CLIENT UPDATE – Bulman Dunie Operations During COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 epidemic has impacted every business around the globe, and Bulman Dunie is no exception.  We are proud of how the firm readily adapted to a new normal to continue serving our clients while ensuring the safety of our clients and staff.

The firm leveraged our existing technology and rapidly invested in new technology to ensure that every Bulman Dunie staff member could as closely as possible duplicate their office workstation in a remote setup at home.

For a 10-week period, from March 30 through May 25, although deemed an essential business by the State of Maryland, in order to do our part to protect staff and clients, Bulman Dunie closed our office building and firm operations were exclusively remote.  Beginning May 26 the firm reopened on a limited basis to staff and clients, while maintaining remote operations to the maximum extent possible.  We are lucky to operate in relatively COVID-friendly physical space – a standalone building with closed-door offices and conference rooms spread over three floors with private surface parking. This space, coupled with an increased commercial cleaning presence – has permitted us to safely accommodate clients outside as needed, and permit appropriate distancing for staff when working on site.

To the extent possible, attorneys consult with clients over Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or phone conference.  If necessary, the firm can accommodate clients in our office, with plexiglass dividers in conference rooms, a contactless thermometer by the front door, and a ready supply of PPE. Estate planning clients sign their documents from the comfort of their cars just steps from our front door, within a safe distance of witnesses and notaries.   Firm attorneys continue to represent clients in hearings, trials, and mediations over Zoom, Skype, and Microsoft Teams.

We will continue to adapt our operations to ensure client and staff safety while fostering the personal connections and rapport that are so important to the attorney-client relationship and a core value of the Bulman Dunie firm.
