It’s November and Thanksgiving will soon be here before we know it! A day for touch football games which turn into ACL injuries. A time to be with family. And, of course, a day for food!
Let’s hear from Bulman Dunie attorneys as they “dish” on their Thanksgiving favorites (and least favorites).
Most favorite: Mashed potatoes. They are an essential vessel for gravy, and pair nicely with any wine!
Least favorite: Candied yams. I remember this casserole on the Thanksgiving table when I was a kid, smothered with a layer of melted marshmallows. Yick, too sweet!
Most favorite: My favorite Thanksgiving food is mashed potatoes. When I was little my aunt decided to buy store-bought mashed potatoes one year and I still haven’t forgiven her.
Least favorite: I don’t have a least favorite Thanksgiving food–but I do hate when my food touches, so I use my mashed potatoes wisely.
My most and least favorite food is the same–cranberry sauce. Every year I make my grandmother’s cranberry sauce recipe which dates back a few generations to Virginia’s Eastern Shore. It’s tart, sweet, crunchy, and is the flavor that instantly reminds me of the season. This leads to my least favorite food–canned jellied cranberry sauce. If you show up at my Thanksgiving dinner with cranberry sauce from a can, you’ll be eating outside.
Editor’s Note: Jeremy unwittingly started an internal firm debate over this topic…
Most favorite: Stuffing. But not some fancy made-from-scratch stuffing. I just like basic boxed Stove Top.
Least favorite: Cranberry sauce. Although, I have been known to put a little of the jellied cranberry sauce on my plate from time to time. I guess I’ll never be invited to Thanksgiving at Jeremy’s house.
Most favorite: My most favorite Thanksgiving dish is a double-decker plate of turkey, potato filling, and bread filling all slathered in gravy and a side of roasted brussel sprouts.
Least favorite: There are no Thanksgiving foods that I would ever dare turn down. I will say this about cranberry sauce–it better be from a can! Don’t try to push your fancy, spiced cranberries on this old-fashioned guy!
What are your favorite Thanksgiving dishes? How do you feel about canned vs. homemade cranberry sauce? Perhaps it’s best to just offer both.
