Spring is in the air, and for most people that means emerging from their dark home offices to enjoy the crisp outdoors once again.
For personal injury practice group chair Dan Shaivitz, spring means something much more special. It means lacrosse is in full bloom.
Dan’s greatest passion outside family and work is coaching youth club lacrosse.
Dan is a former varsity athlete and starred as the starting goaltender for the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights lacrosse team.
In his adult years, Dan has been coaching in the Bethesda Lacrosse Club and recreational programs for the last five years. Dan first coached his older son’s club team and now coaches his younger son’s club team.
Dan comes by coaching honestly. He grew up as a coach’s son. Dan’s father coached all of his sports teams growing up. Dan tries to coach his sons’ teams with the same steady hand and patience that he observed many years ago from his father.
Dan and his wife patrol the east coast all spring and summer with Dan’s teams. The spring season will end in May, followed by 2-4 summer tournaments where Dan’s teams will compete against nationally-ranked youth lacrosse programs.
While it sounds exhausting to battle insurance companies by day and coach lacrosse all evening and weekend, Dan wouldn’t have it any other way. Although he could do without tracking turf pellets into the office, his car, and his house. See you on the field, Dan!
Dan practices in litigation issues with a focus on personal injury matters. Learn more about him here.
